Firewood
Buy Reviews
As you can see, it will be a while before we can make a dent in the huge amount, since there has been a rain once too often in the last few weeks. The summer heat is building and this means we won't be making any fires, for fear of it getting away from us and causing a problem. There are too many forest fires in the summer because of the dry grass and weeds. We wouldn't want to burn down our home :(
Here is just a few branches from the big tree that fell which we have broken up to put in the fire pit for kindling to build a fire.

Mow?
I thought that the last time I mowed the yard, it would be the last......ha, ha......the rains came again and now the weeds are growing as if to mock me. So, in the next few days, after the ground has had a chance to dry enough, I'll need to mow. Sure am glad I have a riding lawnmower, since this yard is almost an acre in size. I can not see me pushing a mower over all that large area :(

Fall Plants
You know the one's you want to plant by the time, the end of summer arrives. The advocate planting next year's garlic, during this time and really if you have a good area to put it, then you can enjoy fresh garlic every year to cook with. I even like to take a few leaves and put them on the grill when cooking outside. Helps to season the meat you have on the grill.
I've grown lettuce, radishes and some greens during the fall. The problem I had was making sure to buy enough seeds during the spring, to have to plant later. It's not a seasonal thing to have lettuce, radish and mustard green seeds in your local stores. So, you need to buy ahead for the fall planting. Reaping the rewards later is always a good thing.

wifithermostats
In recent years the need for climate control in homes or businesses has become more advanced. I remember the old units on the wall, which would have to be replaced because of their inability to last any length of time. It wasn't easy to keep our home warm without high energy bills during the winter months. I noticed that this was the same with most homes in our area. Texas weather has such a diverse set of rules and you never know what type of weather the mornings will bring. One day it will be freezing and the next up in the 70's with bright sunshine.
Our weather can cause uncomfortable times to the elderly and babies. Also there are many who have health problems which heat and cold can affect. The certainly need the control necessary for their comfort during the extreme weather months.
Technology has updated the world with it's abilities in most fields that carry any form of electronics. Units for comfort control have been advanced to the phone apps from downloads. Programs can be loaded into the apps for your wifi connections. These programs are giving you the ability to use your voice from your smartphone and other resources. There is easy access from anywhere as long as you have the wifi programs' set up. I found the website www.wifithermostats.org to offer several options to choose when shopping for the perfect thermostat to have in your home or office. The convenience of shopping online eases the need to travel to the store, when shipping is available.
There is information about each unit, the quote of prices and you can locate local dealer's who supply the units for purchase. I call that a great convenience from the website that's giving the information. Being able to set up a 7 day program with the touch pad, gives you access to freedom while away from home. I think that technology has lifted some of the stress to our daily lives, don't you ? There are several home improvement stores who carry units for your comparison. You may need to purchase one that fits your budget needs, and there are plenty to view. Shop today and get the value you are searching for in home comfort control. You'll be glad you did, when you see your next energy bill.

Farm Machinery
Living in a rural area is something I've experienced most of my life. I'm accustomed to seeing large tractors ahead of me on the FM roads. It's necessary for the farmers to move their equipment from one field to another, when the work needs to be done. Naturally, the drivers who are behind them are scowling at them for being slow and in the way of traffic. I'm sure they are in such a hurry with their own lives and world they can't realize that these farmers are part of what keeps our nation in needed food supplies.
The farm machinery they use is a dire implement utilized by all farmers, whether they are owners or laborers. Each piece of farm equipment is used to do certain jobs necessary for the production of crops and conditioning of the soil for later planting.
The local rural area where I lived was known for it cotton and grain crops. We have a working cotton gin and grainery in our small town. The freight trains come through here often and stop to pick up loaded grain cars to take across the states to processing plants. In the same trip they drop of empty cars to be loaded with more grain held in the huge silos waiting to be shipped. I haven't noticed the traffic of the cotton, from the "gin" once it's been processed into huge bales. I have seen many trailers filled with the boles of cotton, that has been gathered by the farmer's and their equipment.
I can even remember sitting under a trailer, when I was young, while my grand parents would pull cotton and place it in the big sacks they towed on their backs down the field rows. When I grew older, they took cotton ducking and made me a "cotton sack" half the size of theirs so I could pick cotton to make a little money for my Saturday town candy run. Going to town on Saturday's was something to us back in those years. Having some jingle in our pockets made us feel good. The candy was great too and times were considered hard back then. We had no idea how this world would become so commercialized the way it is today.

Fall
So, now the real work has begun and you are mulching like crazy, doing the last of the mowing, and getting the soil ready for next season's planting. You might consider saving a small area for those fall plants that carry through the winter months. Kale, and a few others really are good during the winter months. Consider these when you make your next vegetable garden.
There are also the flowers, and bulbs for your spring blossoms, so get everything ready for winter's blast and springs' arrival.

It's Cool Out
The contrast from 80's to 40's is not to my liking. Here in Texas they say if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes and it will change. Somehow I don't think that will apply today. It's predicted to be in the 50's at the most today. That's a bit shy of the 80's yesterday. I really hope our winter months gives us the needed cool days to combat the insects next year. Still I don't relish the idea of snow, sleet and cutting cold winds.

Cool Front
I have been watching the local news and weather in the last few days to keep up on things. It looks as though we are expecting a cool front to hit today. The news caster tells us that by 4pm, we will know that the weather has changed. As I write, the wind is churning up with strong gusts and the clouds are drifting in.
Since I have the house windows open to let in fresh air, I assume that this cool front will make me close them. I am a bit cold natured and don't like it when my hands and feet get cold. I put the electric blanket on my bed yesterday when I changed sheets, so I'm ready for the cool weather.

Grass
I got on the riding lawnmower and mowed the yard today. It was getting high with the rains we have been having here in Texas. The mower is limited to the areas it can access and therefore it will need the weed eater. That's another story, since the one that I bought from a guy, hasn't made it to my front door as yet. I guess when he decides that I really need it he will come and bring it or do work around here to make up of the money I gave him. That's what happens when you trust extended family members to be straight up with you.
There are a few weeds that grace areas where the lawnmower couldn't get, so if I can get my lazy butt out there before the ground gets too dry and pull them up then it will look much better. If not then they will get larger and go to seed. Darn weeds.

Cold
My son, who lives up in Cheyenne, WY. just text me and told me that they have snow. There's about 2 inches already and it's not over yet. I saw that they front we are now experiencing was making it through their area yesterday. We won't have snow here, but the panhandle of Texas may get some. I know it's cold here and that's enough for me. The temperatures were in the 70's & 80's here yesterday and this morning they are in the low 50's. That's Texas weather for ya!
