Summer is really here, with all the dried out sun burnt plants and cracked ground. Yes, after all the good rain we received in May, the ground is dried out and cracking. No help from the weather predictors either. Seems, that if there's any chance for rain at all in the next week it will on by 30% and that's one day. The area that could be blessed is in the upper top of our Texas State, around the Red River and TX/OK borders. They don't expect it to come on down into our areas. I don't see any help from the coastal area waters either. Hurricanes, are few this year for some reason? I suppose we can be happy that the 100* degree weather has been less this year. Then we haven't made it to August as yet!

Hurricane.....
Today and yesterday has been rain, rain, rain! Hurricane Bill is coming right up through the north central areas of Texas. Today, there are strong gusts of wind along with persistent rain showers. All the rain we have gotten this year has been received in the last two months. Our yard has been a lake more times than I care to remember. People have lost their lives because of flooding creeks, streams, rivers and low lying roads. Properties have been washed away, and others destroyed by high winds along with the storms. It's been a rough last two months here in Texas

Storms
Everyday, for over 3 or 4 weeks, we've seen storms, flooding and torrential rains. Texas, has been a drought zone and now it's a flood zone. Many have lost their lives, homes and businesses to the heavy flooding. As for us here in my yard, we've been very lucky and blessed to only have a few limbs fall from the trees. Thank God!

Sleet
I saw a robin yesterday evening, so I know it won't be long until spring arrives. Until then, we will just have to maintain and survive until the fun times begin. Right now all most people can do is "hunker down" and ride out the bad weather.

Temps
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.........and the temps are creeping up into the 60's, so that means we are in for some nice weather. The problem is that we will have some more freezing weather and the trees and spring plants will be confused and get frost bitten. I guess there will be a problem finding good fruit again this year at the stores.

Spring?
Ok, enough of this cold crap! The ground hog hasn't even seen his shadow yet, and we're still freezing our butts off! I get tired of the cold weather, cause most of the time it's a wet cold and that cuts right through my bones. It would be nice to have spring, year round!

Winter
The weathermen, are predicting some freezing rain, and possible snow this week. I have large trees which are old and tend to break easily. This is a scary situation for me, since there is a large tree hanging over the front of my house and the power lines. This happened last year and the people next door were without power for a week until they could get the big tree cut off the house and reconnect the power lines. I sure hope the weather doesn't become too bad and cause all this damage again this year.

Storms Last Night
I wonder how much longer this tree will stand before it actually falls over in the ground? It's been around many years and weathered many storms.
We had high winds during the storms this morning and lost power for 2hrs. A few limbs were broken and we can count ourselves lucky this time. Thank God!

June
Summer is here and with it comes the bugs, bad weather and extreme heat & drought. I don't relish any of those subjects. Here is Texas we always get bad storms and very hot temps. This causes us to have disasters of all different types. High winds, hail, lightning and tornadoes. Just overwhelming to many, when their homes and businesses get torn up. We've had some storms lately, but none that really were bad enough to cause much damage. For this we are all thankful. As you can tell summer is just starting, so our fingers will stay crossed for a few months.
Hurricane season is also here and our coast is subject to many as well.

wifithermostats
In recent years the need for climate control in homes or businesses has become more advanced. I remember the old units on the wall, which would have to be replaced because of their inability to last any length of time. It wasn't easy to keep our home warm without high energy bills during the winter months. I noticed that this was the same with most homes in our area. Texas weather has such a diverse set of rules and you never know what type of weather the mornings will bring. One day it will be freezing and the next up in the 70's with bright sunshine.
Our weather can cause uncomfortable times to the elderly and babies. Also there are many who have health problems which heat and cold can affect. The certainly need the control necessary for their comfort during the extreme weather months.
Technology has updated the world with it's abilities in most fields that carry any form of electronics. Units for comfort control have been advanced to the phone apps from downloads. Programs can be loaded into the apps for your wifi connections. These programs are giving you the ability to use your voice from your smartphone and other resources. There is easy access from anywhere as long as you have the wifi programs' set up. I found the website www.wifithermostats.org to offer several options to choose when shopping for the perfect thermostat to have in your home or office. The convenience of shopping online eases the need to travel to the store, when shipping is available.
There is information about each unit, the quote of prices and you can locate local dealer's who supply the units for purchase. I call that a great convenience from the website that's giving the information. Being able to set up a 7 day program with the touch pad, gives you access to freedom while away from home. I think that technology has lifted some of the stress to our daily lives, don't you ? There are several home improvement stores who carry units for your comparison. You may need to purchase one that fits your budget needs, and there are plenty to view. Shop today and get the value you are searching for in home comfort control. You'll be glad you did, when you see your next energy bill.

Air Plane Up High
I kept trying to catch the roughness of the high winds, so here is another video of the trees bending. I also noticed an airplane up high, making ice crystals in it's path. I can't really see it in this video, but it was there.
High Winds
While sitting out in the yard swing, yesterday I was taking pictures of how high the wind was. If you notice how hard the trees are moving and bending. I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted to see my hair blowing.
Freeze
Evidence of the latest freeze here in our local area. It took it's toll on the new growth, that has been popping out since the warm weather days.

Still Here
Two days after it snowed, the cold temps kept the snow on the ground. As of yesterday the temps warmed a bit and melted some of the snow. Today, they predict that we will be in the 50's, and this will be welcomed.

Limbs
Recently I posted this picture and several others of how the ice storm treated our trees. Well, as you can see the people next door and all up and down the street, made sure to get their down tree limbs out to the curb. Yesterday, the crews who remove the limbs that are on the curb removed them. Needless, to say, my limbs were not our there because a certain person has been too tired to do the job. Mine still lay in the yard after all this time and I'm not in the mood to hound him about it.

It's Raining
Yesterday, it was nice and balmy here in our local area. We went around in shirt sleeves and enjoyed the nice weather. Today, it's turned colder and raining. Naturally, that makes it uncomfortable to people who are "cold natured" like I am. When the cold is a wet cold, it seems to cut right through my bones. I would much rather have warm sunny days, than this stuff. I realize that we need to rain for our lakes to fill up and help with the drought in our State. So, I put up with this weather, but I'm not liking it.

About 6 months ago, I cleaned a mango, that I had recently bought at a local grocery. I let it set for a few days, and then cut it open, ...
